Can you explain how the Online Booking works?

When booking online, the first thing to keep in mind is the amount of time you are looking for. Once that amount of time is scheduled it is unlikely you will be able to extend the service. The Therapist can customize the massage to what you need. For any specific services like hot stone or cupping, it’s important to book that specific service so that the Therapist can be prepared. Please help the Therapist out by accurately filling out the intake form. Please click the link associated with the Intake Form that will come with your confirmation email. You will still have a chance to talk through things before your session starts, but if they have a document to reference, you are more likely to get a better and more pinpointed therapy. Remember, there are a lot of bodies for the practitioner to remember on a weekly basis.
 
If you don't receive an email confirmation of your booking, please check with the office. It could be something as simple as an incorrect email entry. We can also receive texts at 248.301.9777.

Question 2

How can I best prepare for my visit?

It's quite simple to prepare for a massage. Most importantly is to come hydrated, clean and on time. You will get the most out of your massage by adhering to these tips. 
 
Be sure to set aside enough time to get to our location. If you are late, time may be taken off of your massage to keep the therapist on time for the next client.

Can you please describe the overall massage experience?

Accepted Answer

Before the therapist leaves the room, you will be told how to lie on the table. They will tell you
one of three ways. Most commonly you will be asked to lie under the sheets on your stomach with your face in the cradle at the top of the table. This will indicate that they will probably start on your back.
 
Another way you might be asked to start will be to lie on your back. I find that if you are having trouble with sinuses or if you’re claustrophobic, starting this way is easier.

Whether on your stomach or back, your legs will have a bolster under them to ensure your
lower back stays stress free.
 
The third way you may be asked to start will be side-lying. This isn't common unless you are an established client or are receiving a prenatal massage and decide you don’t want the pregnancy pillow that allows you to lie on your belly. Side-lying may be introduced at the beginning or middle of the massage to address issues to your shoulders, neck or hips.
 
Once the Therapist leaves the room, you may be wondering how far to undress. Usually you will be given instruction to "get undressed to your comfort level." This is how everyone is taught in school. The reality of it is that your Therapist wants to be able to massage without having to deal with moving underwear aside. We also understand not everyone is comfortable getting on the table naked. It can feel awkward the first time, but once you see how professional and smooth the massage is performed, you will never think twice in the future. With that being said, we completely respect your decision to keep your underwear on. Just be cognizant that you may receive a different version of hip and glute treatment.

Question 4

Are we talking throughout the massage?

Talking during the service is completely up to you. This is your massage! You paid for it. Personally, I feel like most will get more from the service when they just relax and breathe. A lot of times you will be relaxed enough to doze off. You will feel completely rejuvenated after you come out of the fog of being worked on, also known as, “massage drunk.” Opposite of those that fall asleep, there are personality types that find relaxation in talking with their therapist during the massage. You are protected by HIPPA ensuring anything you say is confidential, Don’t be offended if your Therapist doesn’t strike up conversation first. We follow your lead. Happy to chat and happy with silence. There is always music playing so it’s not a quiet room either way.

Should you want something changed in the massage PLEASE speak up. This can be that you want different pressure or that you just remembered you stubbed your big toe that morning and you really don’t want it touched. It can also be to tell them that a certain thing they are doing feels really good. Occasional feedback from the client is helpful, especially if you are there to work on a specific issue.

Question 5

What happens after the massage?

When the massage is over, the Therapist will leave the room to let you get dressed. When you are all set, walk out to the counter where either the Therapist or the receptionist will check you out . The Therapist should also have a glass of water for you. You will want to continue drinking water throughout the day. Also, don’t be surprised if you are hungry after your session. Believe it or not, the Therapist is not the only one burning calories during your massage. You may burn upwards of 200 calories in a 90 min service.

Am I expected to tip after the massage?

I would love to get to a place with my business where I don't need to accept tips, but for most of us in this profession, our costs of doing business are still too high and our fee structure is competitive. It is NEVER expected that you tip, but at this time it won't be turned down. There is no magical formula. The checkout screen will do the math for you if you prefer to tip on a percentage basis.

Question 7

Do you accept health insurance?

By law, we cannot accept health insurance directly but your primary care physician can write a prescription for massage therapy such that it can be paid by insurance.  In addition, you can use your FSA or HSA debit cards as direct payment for massage sevices.

Question 8

What's your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

There is a $50 charge incurred under the following conditions:
 
- Less than 24 hour notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment
- No show or missed appointment

Arriving late for a service will not result in a $50 cancellation charge, however it will likely require shortening the length of the treatment.

Each late cancellation after the first offense, you will be charged 100% of the service.

Question 9

Can I book an appointment for more than one family member under the same name?

Accepted Answer

No.  It's important that each individual book an appointment under their respective name.  In addition to the intake form required for each individual, all therapists are required, by law, to produce SOAP notes for each service.  Our systems and policies require that these notes be attached to the booking individual's name.  
 
If you choose to book an appointment for a loved one, you're required to use their name, e-mail address and phone number.
